New Site

The challenge
The Anchorage Park Foundation does a lot with a small, busy staff. Their old website was built on a page builder that made editing slow and confusing. Only one staff member could comfortably update the site, which put a heavy load on someone already juggling too much.
The site also lacked layout variety. Pages ran long, and there were few ways to break up content so visitors could find what they needed.
Our approach
We saw this as an organizational problem, not just a design problem. The goal was a site any staff member could update with confidence, so the team could share content work instead of leaving it with one person.
The solution
- Native WordPress block editor. We rebuilt the site on WordPress’s built-in block editor, replacing the old page builder. Editing is now visual, intuitive, and consistent from page to page.
- Featured Items Streamline. Featured items on the home page are pulled from pages, events and news. Items had to be added manually, which was time-consuming. A new custom post type allows APF staff to easily pull Featured Items in from any post type right in the Homepage admin.
- Flexible page layouts. A library of ready-made, reusable layouts lets staff break long pages into clear, scannable sections without touching code.
- A clean, simple admin area. We removed dashboard clutter, so staff see only the tools they need to manage the site. Fewer mistakes and faster updates.
- WCAG AA accessibility. We audited and remediated the site to meet WCAG AA standards while keeping the Foundation’s brand colors intact.
- Smooth DNS migration. We moved the domain’s DNS with careful planning, so the site and email stayed online through the switch.
The results
The biggest win was freeing up time. The staff member who once handled every website update can now delegate content work across the team. Updates happen faster, more people can contribute, and the website no longer depends on one person.
