The challenge
Cabin Fever had grown into three businesses under one roof: Cabin Fever, Quilted Raven, and Wooly Mammoth. Each had its own identity, and the old Wix website only sold fabric online. Yarn, fiber, and gifts weren’t available to shoppers outside the store.
Behind the scenes, the online shop and the in-store point of sale (POS) system ran separately. Keeping stock counts accurate in two places meant extra work and a real risk of selling items that were already gone.
Our approach
We started with the business, not the website. The goal was to bring three brands together under one clear name, give the shop a modern and professional look, and connect online sales directly to the store’s inventory so staff could spend less time on data entry.
We also dug into what the shop’s Lightspeed systems could and couldn’t do. Selling fabric by fractional yardage is a known limitation in this platform, so we tested the options with Lightspeed support and recommended a solution that fit the shop’s size and budget instead of overbuilding.
The solution
- One brand, one storefront. We combined Cabin Fever, Quilted Raven, and Wooly Mammoth into Cabin Fever Fabric, Fiber and Gifts, with a refreshed, modern design that reflects their new branding.
- Live POS inventory online. We connected the online store (Lightspeed eCom) to the shop’s Lightspeed Retail POS, so stock levels for yarn, fiber, and gifts update automatically. When something sells in the store, the website knows. New products added to the POS show up automatically on the website.
- The full catalog online. For the first time, shoppers anywhere can buy yarn, fiber, and gifts alongside fabric.
- Built to grow. New but hidden blog, Events, and Artist Profile pages give the shop room to share classes, showcase local makers, and add fresh content when they ready.
- Smooth launch. We moved the site off Wix to WordPress on WP Engine and handled the domain cutover, with Google Tag Manager E-commerce tracking in place from day one.
The results
The biggest win is operational. Staff no longer manage two separate inventories for most products, which cuts double entry and reduces the risk of overselling. Locals, Alaska visitors, and online shoppers across the country can now browse and buy from all three product lines in one place.
